- By far my favorite introductory textbook. It has clear explanations of grammar and vocabulary, and lots of example sentences, and includes a free audio download.
- Colloquial Scottish Gaelic by Katie Graham and Katherine Spadaro

- The only dictionary you will ever need.
- Brìgh nam Facal by Richard A. V. Cox
- Monolingual Gaelic dictionary designed for schools, no longer in print but available for free online from the author. Also available as an app for iOS and Android.
- Blàs na Gàidhlig by Michael Bauer
- Easily the most comprehensive available book on Scottish Gaelic pronunciation, a must-have.
- Scottish Gaelic: A Comprehensive Grammar by William Lamb
- A well-written and fairly comprehensive reference grammar. Not as useful for the beginner, but something you'll want to invest in at some point when you are more advanced.
- Geàrr-ghràmar na Gàidhlig by Richard A. V. Cox
- A grammar reference written in Gaelic, available for free online by the author but available in print as well.
