Releases
A list of Gaelic-language albums and EPs, organized by genre.
Electronic
Indie & Alternative
Balach
Self-described "pop-rock" group from Lewis. So far it doesn't appear that they've released any full-length albums or EPs, but they have some singles on their YouTube channel.
Na Gathan
- Fali Ro Fali Re (Single) — Soundcloud
- Ga Bruidhinn Làn-Ùine (Single) - Soundcloud
Rock, Punk, & Metal
An t-Uabhas
Garage/punk band based on the Isle of Skye. The current lineup consists of Roddy Neithercut, Sìleas Landgraf, Hester Levack, and Timothy C. Armstrong.
- Togaibh Ur Guth + Gaelic for Punks (2011) - SoundCloud
- The band's debut album which includes several Gaelic lessons designed for aspiring Gaelic punks.
Atomgevitter
I can't find much about this band other than that they are a hardcore/thrash band from the UK and Germany. They have released several tracks in Gaelic.
- Atomgevitter Play Gaelic - SoundCloud
Drilseach
Side project of Timothy C. Armstrong, a concept band that so far has released one song based on the first chapter of his Gaelic science fiction novel Air Cuan Dubh Drilseach.
- Luathas-teichidh (2014) (Single) - Air Cuan Dubh Drilseach website
Gun Gaol
An exciting new metalcore band from Larbert, UK featuring voalist Cailean Stone (who also makes content on TikTok).
- Sgrios (2025) (EP) - Bandcamp
- The band's first EP as a 4-piece.
- DEISEIL (2025) (Single) - Bandcamp
- A Gaelic cover of Chappel Roan's "HOT TO GO!", absolutely outstanding.
- Leum (2024) - Bandcamp
- Bha Thu Ceàrr (2023) (Single) - Bandcamp
Mill a h-Uile Rud
Seattle based punk band, fronted by Timothy C. Armstrong, author of Air Cuan Dubh Drilseach. A documentary about the band which featured in the BBC program "Ealtainn" can be found here.
- Ceàrr (2004) - SoundCloud
Mòine
Black metal duo from Scotland. The vocals are mixed somewhat low, so I can't say how useful it would be for learning Gaelic, but if you like black metal it's worth checking out.
- Ciaradh (2023) - Bandcamp
Oi Polloi
Anarcho-punk/oi band from Edinburgh, one of the progenitors of Scottish Gaelic punk music.
- Carson? (2003) - Bandcamp
- Split (2005) - YouTube
- Split EP with anti-Zionist Israeli hardcore band Nikmat Olalim (נקמת עוללים)
- Ar Ceòl Ar Cànan Ar-A-Mach (2008) - Bandcamp
The Thing Upstairs
A new-wave band from Skye, I was unable to find much about them other than the fact that their track "Na Solais Dhubh" appeared on the compilation "Gàidhlig na Lasair" as well as in a music video that they did for the BBC program "Brag" in the late 80s.
Compilations
- Gàidhlig na Lasair (2006)
- Features Oi Polloi, Mill a h-Uile Rud, Atomgevitter, Nad Aislingean and The Thing Upstairs. I was able to find a CD on eBay but I don't believe it is available online anywhere. Several of the Oi Polloi and Atomgevitter tracks from this compilation are available on other releases.
- Ceòl Gàidhlig mar Sgian nad Amhaich (2005)
- 4-track compilation single
